sorakun.net is now open to hosting. if you're sick and tired of your geocities, angelfire, or whatever account, sorakun.net will be more than happy to host your website for free. well, provided that you or your site:

a) is not a large and high-maintenance site.
I can only give you so much memory, as I don't have that much free and I am limited in how much I can use up. as long as you're not running a mp3 (or other major multimedia-specific) site like mine, you're good.
b) is mainly anime/manga related. I've been receiving a lot of requests lately for hosting of sites that can just squeak by when it comes to "somewhat anime/manga related." basically, they're very crappy websites, and I've had to reject them because I can only host so many people and I won't have anymore crap on my server.
I WON'T accept:
trading card sites (I've already got one, and that's enough)
fanfic/fanart only sites (unless the site is very well-designed, brings in a lot of traffic, and the art/writing is decent). if you're a mary sue, you can be sure as hell that I won't host you
personal sites (weblogs are an exception)
yu-gi-oh sites - I hate to bar any one anime from my server, but I am SICK and TIRED of people with yu-gi-oh sites applying. I've got enough of them already. no more!
c) are at least a little advanced in the ways of the internet, especially html and ftp.
I will admit that I've learned quite a lot in my years of experience, but I am no professional. I don't want novices who don't know what they're doing accidentally screwing up my server, and me not knowing how to fix it. and I don't want to be constantly inundated with mindless troubleshooting questions. know what you're doing. it'll make me a lot happier.
d) is not a porn or anti/hate-related website.
I don't give a damn about your freedom of speech. I don't want people bitching to me about my hostees' offensive crap. I don't want my server to attract a host of perverts, and I definitely don't want anyone slandering any races/religions/etc., because nobody deserves that. go find somewhere else to post your crap.
e) is not going to do anything or host anything majorly illegal.
I already have an mp3 site up and running. that can get me in a lot of hot water as it is. I don't want any of you trying to do anything similar. that will only make it even worse. keep it simple. please.
f) are going to UPDATE regularly. if I do a routine check of my hostees and see that a site is dead or frozen, I will delete it.
g) is, overall, worthy of being hosted by me. that's not arrogance on my part. one can usually tell when a site deserves to be hosted, or if it's crap that only belongs on a free web server. remember that subdomains cost money - don't waste my time with junk, unless you want to pay for it. make me glad that I'm hosting you.

on a similar note, I reserve the right as webmistress to delete anything I find distasteful or offensive without prior notice. I will be monitoring my hostees constantly. if I see anything that I consider a violation of my rules, it will be gone permanently.

I know it sounds harsh, but it's really not that bad. Most all sites can comply with these standards. If you still want sorakun.net to host you, just email me with the following information:

your name
your email address
your chosen username
(this will be used in the actual url, i.e. username.sorakun.net or sorakun.net/username)
your chosen password
(make sure you write it down and keep track of it. I can't be responsible if you lose or forget it.)
the name of your site

(this is only applicable if it already exists on another server)
a short description of your site

failure to submit any or all of this information may result in a rejection.
